Film fans rejoice for the biggest movie of 2025 will be available to stream from the comfort of your own home very soon.
A record-breaking sequel to a Disney animated classic praised for ‘never getting old’ and as ‘the best childhood movie’, Zootropolis 2 made huge waves at the end of last year.
Following up on 2016’s Zootropolis (known as Zootopia in the US), this second film re-visits odd-couple friends, rabbit Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and wily fox Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman).
Despite the near-decade between releases, it’s just a week later for our intrepid duo of Zootopia, who are now working together in an official capacity as detectives for the ZPD after managing to uncover a conspiracy involving the disappearance of predators last time around.
Now they are on the trail of a mysterious reptile (Gary De’Snake, voiced by Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan), who arrives in Zootopia and threatens to turn the mammal Shoutfm.co.ukpolis upside down as snakes haven’t been seen in the area for years.
Going undercover in new parts of town, Nick and Judy’s investigation takes them deep into conspiracies and murky territory as they fight to clear their names after being framed.
Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Patrick Warbuton, Macaulay Culkin, Brenda Song, Danny Trejo and Quinta Brunson play new animals, joining popular returners including Idris Elba as Chief Bogo, Shakira as Gazelle and Nate Torrence as Clawhauser.
After earning a huge $1.85billion (£1.39bn) at the box office following its release in December, Zootropolis 2 smashed past multiple Disney records – including that of Inside Out 2 – to officially become the highest-grossing animated MPA (Motion Picture Association) animated movie of all time.
Only China’s Ne Zha 2 has a larger haul, with $2.2bn (£1.65bn) from its release near the start of last year.
Following its success, it will be hopping its way onto our TV screens at home by landing on Disney Plus on March 11.
Zootropolis attracted strong reviews upon release, landing it an impressive score of 91% with critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an even higher score of 96% from audience members.
‘Oh I loved every second of it, [a] must-see if you haven’t seen yet,’ urged fan Kelsey A while Christian commented: ‘Comical. Heartfelt. Suspenseful. Everything you’d want to follow up Zootopia.’

’10/10 I prefer this one over the first installment,’ added another fan, and Bogdan claimed ‘top 5 movies’.
‘Hilarious on so many levels! Every generation will love this!’ promised Liz, but not every viewer was convinced as Liam complained it was ‘mid at best’ and added: ‘Obviously the most overrated Disney movie I’ve ever watched.’
Reviews praised it as ‘just as charming and arguably funnier than its predecessor’ and ‘way better than it had any right to be’.
‘Featuring a winning lead pairing, pacey chase sequences and a richly realised world, the film builds on its predecessor’s appeal with charm, energy and the wittiest nod to The Shining in a kids’ movie yet,’ praised The Radio Times, while HeyUGuys called it ‘a genuine crowd-pleaser’ and Next Best Picture described it as ‘a marvel of modern animated storytelling’.
‘This sequel to 2016’s smash hit Oscar-winning animated film proves more than worth the lengthy wait, knocking it out of the park with its dazzling visuals, sophisticated humor and doses of genuine emotion,’ added The Hollywood Reporter of Zootropolis 2, which has since gone on to win a Bafta Film Awaard at this year’s ceremony for best animated feature.
It is also Oscar nominated ahead of the Academy Awards in less than two weeks’ time.
Zootropolis 2 is streaming exclusively on Disney Plus from Wednesday, March 11.
